Welcome to our blog for the 2014 youth mission trip to Montana. Our hope is to update this blog during the trip but that will depend on internet access.
Here’s the latest info about the trip:
We are thankful for the opportunity to represent Sunset Bible Church and the Lord Jesus Christ as 18 adults and teens embark on this mission trip to Montana. So that you can be praying more specifically for us and those we will be serving, here are some details.
WHEN? Monday, July 14th through Wednesday, July 23rd.
WHAT? & WHY?
1. We’ll be running a Vacation Bible School for Augusta Community Church in Augusta Montana in order to understand rural American culture for the purpose of encouraging the local church and sharing the Gospel.
2. We will be constructing a playground for the Montana Wilderness School of the Bible (MWSB). In order to help our teens develop a strong work ethic and learn how to support a team.
3. We will be spending a night in tents in the middle of nowhere Montana, focusing on growing closer to God. This will include a short backpacking trip, cooking, bonfires, singing, praying, studying, listening, meditating on Scripture, fishing, and cliff jumping. We desire to experience God and see Him through His creation.
HOW TO PRAY?
- Pray that we will be stretched.
- Pray that God will develop patience and strength of character in us.
- Pray that we will build a closer relationship with God as well as with other committed adults and students.
- Pray that we will cultivate spiritual discipline in prayer, Bible study, worship, and serving, and that we will develop new skills in cooking, leading, serving, meeting new people, and being in new situations.
- Pray that we will make significant progress on struggles with minor addictions (video games, excessive texting, too much TV, excessive junk food, no exercise, bad sleep habits, poor decision-making, hanging out with bad friends, etc.).
- Pray that God would use this environment to challenge us to leave behind laziness, lethargy, depression, anger, and selfishness, and to cling to Christ for our identity and hope.
