Senior Pastor

My family and I have served here since 2001. My time is given to three primary tasks: preaching and teaching, pastoral care, and leadership. I believe that God’s Word should be preached passionately. Diligent pastoral care reflects God’s heart for people, and without leadership a church cannot move forward. I am grateful to my wife Kathy and our girls for their involvement and to both Western Seminary and Corban School of Ministry in preparing me for ministry. In recent years, our growing posse of grandchildren gives us much joy as well.

Stephen Abeshima

Assistant Pastor – Youth & Worship

My wife Faithlina and I began attending Sunset in the fall of 2021 and I joined the staff in the summer of 2022. I lead in two primary areas: our youth ministry and our worship ministry. My desire for our youth is that they would be transformed by God as they encounter him through biblical teaching and warm relationships. In my role leading in worship, I enjoy serving alongside a team passionate about using music to point our church toward Christ every week.

Craig Alford

Assistant Pastor

The warmth and care for others was the first thing that stood out to us about Sunset. We count it a great privilege to serve God with this church body. Before Sunset I had the privilege of growing up in the PNW, serving in the Navy and attending schools around the country. Along the way I met my wife Juliet in Los Angeles, CA. We have one daughter. There is a peace resting in God’s wisdom and mercy expressed through His word. I am excited to communicate that wherever possible. We have been at Sunset since 2022.

Kevin Brubaker

Senior Pastor, Central Bible Church

My family and I are excited to be serving at Central Bible Church. I am a Northwest native and my wife Yulia was born and raised in Russia. We spent our last four years living in Russia. Before that, I served eight years as an assistant pastor at Sunset Bible Church and six years as the CFO at Corban University. My passion is equipping God’s people for the work of the ministry through the preaching and teaching of his word, through the discipleship and mentoring of others, and by providing Christ-focused leadership.

Nate Faires

Assistant Pastor – Area 57 & Youth Group

I first came to Sunset during the summer of 2021, where I had the pleasure of serving as one of the summer interns during one of the last years of my time at Corban University and their seminary. After graduating from Corban in the spring of 2022, the Lord brought me back to Sunset Bible Church where I have had the pleasure of serving the community of Christ here since. Born and raised in Washington, just down the valley in Bonney Lake and Sumner area, it’s been amazing to return and be able to share the Gospel and watch it grow here. My passion is to see more and more people fall in love with Christ and learn to grow closer to Him through the reading and study of his Word, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to do so at Sunset Bible Church.

McCardell2023a

Ben McCardell

Assistant Pastor – Area 57, Young Adults, Local Outreach

I have served at Sunset since 2017 after my wife, Jori Anne, and I wrapped up our schooling in downtown Chicago. Most days, we are delighted to continue our education as full-time students in the school of parenting with our boys, Crosby and Beau. We are so thankful to be a small part of what God is doing in and through the people of Sunset Bible Church. I look forward to continuing to build meaningful relationships that both edify and encourage a closer walk with Jesus.
Pease2023a

Tyler Pease

Director of Global Outreach

My wife, Karen, and I have been at Sunset since 2006 and I served on the pastoral staff for 14 years. I now serve as the NW Regional Director for Perspectives USA. We are grateful to continue calling Sunset Bible Church our home and serve the church in the area of Global Outreach. Our family is also active with the Better English in Tacoma ministry where we welcome international friends in the name of Jesus.

Price2022a.jpg

Richard Price

Director of Pastoral Care

We came to Sunset in the Spring of 2018 and I joined the staff in 2022. We cherish the relationships we’ve formed here and enjoy serving God alongside friends. I admire Sunset’s devotion to proclaiming truth from the pulpit while encouraging a vibrant community of discipleship and mutual love. As a professional Marriage and Family Therapist, I saw an opportunity to bring effective Christian Counseling as a ministry to the Body of Christ. By God’s grace, I have witnessed astonishing growth and healing in the men and women of this church. I also enjoy teaching and facilitating meaningful dialogue. I am thankful to my beautiful wife Eileen and my joyful son Caspian for their relentless love and support.

Matthew Richey

Assistant Pastor – Adult Education

Our family began attending Sunset in the Spring of 2016 and I joined the staff later that year. We appreciated Sunset’s commitment to faithfully teaching and preaching from Scripture and their engagement with the local community. I am passionate about studying Scripture and seeing the change it brings in the lives of believers. I am excited to see what God will do in and through Sunset in the coming years and consider myself privileged to see and be a part of what God has for us in the future.
